Our Story

An idea that sparked a conversation amongst colleagues. Sehmani KingSun-Leo, a licensed paralegal and sole practitioner noticed the struggle of running a practice without collaboration. The idea came about to create a collaborative space where leading women in the law, who are practitioners that can connect, grow, share resources and thrive in thier respective practices.

Anthonia Njoku-Kalu

Anthonia Njoku-Kalu is a dual-qualified lawyer, called to the Bar in Nigeria and Ontario, Canada. She maintains a litigation-focused practice in Criminal, Family, and Immigration Law. Her criminal defence work includes serious charges such as sexual assault, domestic violence, and physical assault. In immigration law, she represents clients in inadmissibility proceedings and on applications for judicial review. She also has significant experience in high-conflict parenting and decision-making disputes in family law. Anthonia appears regularly before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Superior Court of Justice, and administrative tribunals, including the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada. Her advocacy is defined by disciplined case strategy, strong evidentiary analysis, and effective oral submissions. She is committed to advancing her clients’ interests with precision, professionalism, and tenacity, delivering practical and results-oriented representation

Laura Olumese

Laura Olumese is a criminal defence lawyer based in the Greater Toronto Area and Principal of Leo Law, where she represents clients in complex criminal matters ranging from youth justice to serious indictable offences. Beyond her practice, she is the Founder & CEO of BarBuddy, a digital bar exam preparation company that combines innovative study tools, simulated exams, and community support to help candidates succeed on the Ontario bar exam and beyond. Laura’s dual role as both advocate and entrepreneur reflects her passion for empowering others, whether it’s standing beside clients in court or equipping future lawyers for success.

Tobore Anethua

Tobore Anethua is the Principal Founder of Toborehosa Legal Services, where she is dedicated to delivering accessible, client-focused legal services with professionalism, integrity, and compassion. A Licensed Paralegal, Notary Public, and holder of a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.), Tobore combines legal knowledge with a strong commitment to advocacy, helping individuals navigate legal matters with confidence and clarity. She speaks English and Pidgin English fluently.

Sehmani KingSun-Leo

Principal Founder & Licensed Paralegal

Sehmani KingSun-Leo is the driving force behind Noire Law Chambers. As a licensed paralegal and sole practitioner in Ontario, she recognized the critical need for a collaborative ecosystem within the legal profession. Her vision was to create a space where legal practitioners—particularly leading women in law—could connect, share resources, and thrive together. With years of experience in individual practice, Sehmani now leads the chambers with a commitment to professional excellence and community-focused advocacy, while pursing her LLB certification.

As a college professor, Sehmani is passionate about supporting legal administration
and educating law clerks, justice administration students, and fellow paralegals on best
practices. Sehmani has an extensive background as a court clerk/registrar and more recently
to became a certified mediator in Jamaica, WI.

Sehmani is no stranger to resilience and perseverance and is committed to creating and
fostering healthy spaces for legal professionals through her work in the community, particularly
programming for single mothers and access to justice education, hosting one-day legal clinics in
the province of Ontario with community partners.

Currently, Sehmani sits on the Board of Directors for Dress for Success Jamaica and the
Ontario Association of Black Paralegals, additionally she is a member of the Jamaican
Canadian Bar Association and is working to practice in Maritime Law - sea prosecutions.
